Tinidazole for balanitis??

I could not see either a dermatologist or urologist. I had this white scaling on the penis glans going on for almost 3 weeks and not improving. I went to see a general practitioner and he said it  is balanatis. He prescribed 2mg of Tinizadole which reading about I found it is NOT used for fungus problems. Do not know if I should go ahead and take it. He did nor presctibe anything else and said one dos will likely suffice...

I did not take the Tinizadole but used 2x a day a Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipr Cream 1%/0.05% after a good cleaning/drying.. It did respond very well. Not sure how could I determine is 100% gone without probably some lab analysis of whatever is. I am also wondering,  assuming it is some fungus, whether I should abstain from any sexual relations and how to know when truly gone. Thanks again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to balanitis. Most cases respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
