my hubby had that when we first got married and it was some sort of a fungal I believe. That was six years ago so I don't remember real well. The doc had him put Lotrimin on it (ya the kind for athletes foot). For about a week and it went away! It was itching him just a little bit but otherwise just appeared dry and a little peeling... Hope this helps!
