herpes? prostatis? something else? irritation?

I'm a 24 year old male.

Since last week, the tip on the left side of the opening of my urethra has been very sensitive. It would sting/hurt when my boxers rubbed up against them. It got very bothersome.

I looked closely there appears to be some sort of a cut. Not like a cut in the sense that it is open. But has the look (a line that is red). At the end of the line, toward the inside of my urethra there a couple of pin sized bumps that also hurt.

I went to a Dermatalogist/Dermapathologist (who used to work in an STD clinic). He looked at and said he doesn

after applying the vaseline once, it really helped.  I don't know if that is indicative of anything.  that was yesterday - today, i did not apply it just to see what happens.  It is less sensitive than before i applied it two days ago.  I'm not sure if it is just going away altogether or if the vaseline made that much of a difference.

also, to further clarify, the little bumps i mention are very very tiny and are not puss filled and did not open or ooze or anything.
