how is this possible?!

how is this possible?!

Well, i had a very burning skin on my upper inner thigh that started last friday, then by sunday, the burning had spread toward the front of my thigh, and a patch of of red bumps appeared, then by monday the burning had moved up to my hip and another patch appeared, although small. Also by now the patch on my thigh had weeping blisters, then by wednesday the burning had spread to my butt and lower back, and earlier today 2 small patches appeared on my lower back. Now the burning is from my inner thigh all the way to my lower back with 4 patches of weeping blisters.

I was supposed to go to the doctor monday, but the burning was really painful because my shorts were rubbing all over my skin and that was causing more pain.
So i went to the doctor today and he examined it and said it was Poison Ivy, and that im allergic to it, and that i must have touched some, and that the spreading wasnt really the poison spreading, but just a delayed reaction because of the amounts of poison that hit different parts of my skin... He told me to use hydrochloride, 2-3 times a day, and that it should be gone within 3 weeks. So i was happy, thats its nothing serious, and came home. But then i though, Wait.... how is that possible?!!

How on earth did i touch poison ivy on my inner thigh, all the way up to my lower back?!
Whenever i go out to the woods, im pretty sure i dont go naked. I definitely wear a shirt and pants or shorts, so how did i contact poison ivy on my inner thigh, all the way up to my lower back?
if i did contact poison ivy, wouldnt my arms or lower legs been affecfted since those are the exposed areas?!

also, i ruld out someone with poison ivy touching me in those places since  that definitely didnt happen.
so is it really possible for me to get the rash there since the doc said it was poison ivy?!

here is a photo of the patch on my thigh if anyone needs to see it...

thanks allot

Hi

The photo is not available yet.

This may not be poison ivy as you have not noted any previous exposure to the allergen. This may however still be a form of dermatitis. Contact or allergic dermatitis may be a likely differential here. Dermatitic skin conditions are usually red and itchy .They may also present with a weeping rash which may eventually evolve into an eczematous disease state.

You need to determine the circumstance surrounding the onset of this rash. Any prior activities, any food intake, heat and sweat may be considered to contribute to this.

Do you have any previous allergies before?
