Spots found on ankles and calves and chins

I recently, in the last two days found some spots on my ankles, tops of feet and sides of calves/chins.  They are smooth, not  very dark, but almost have the resemblance of what a cigarette burn would look like if someone had just lightly bumped me with one.  I have been told from a dermatologist that I am prone to moles and I do have soem moles on my lower abdomen, waist area that have been there for a LONG time, these were looked at while ago and have not changed at all.  My question, I am on vacation and have been sunning, although not sun-worshiping and have not burned at all since I have been here.  Could these be a reaction to something else?  They do not lok like bites of any kind, do not itch, hurt or burn.  I would never have noticed them, they are only visible.  Your comments are very much appreciated.  I plan to have my physician look at them anyway once I return home.  Thanks for your response.

I don't know if this is exactly the same thing as what you have however, I recently started to get small reddish/brown spots on the arches of my feet.  They are not sore nor itchy.  They look like light cigarette burns and have spread to the sides of my feet.  I've been told that they also look like large freckles.  I've had three doctors look at them and couldn't figure out what it was.  They referred me to a dermatologist but I can't get an appointment for another three months!  The only thing my doctor could suggest is that I had some sort of fungus and he prescribed Mentax cream.  Some of the spots have faded but it's only been a week so far.  If you can't find a cure for yours, maybe you can suggest this cream to your doctor.  Good luck!

I wonder if these could be flat warts?  I understand that they are low bumps and often appear on women's legs since we shave.

Melinda:

I'm really not sure what spots like the ones you describe signify.  Insect bites would be raised and itchy.  They certainly aren't moles, as you say yourself.  They don't sound serious in and of themseleves.  I think you are doing the right thing by planning to show them to a physician, though they may spontaneously resolve before you get a chance to.

Best.
