How can this not be an infection. I went to my Ureologist because I had an appointment with him for my Prostate. He looked at it and said it was a bad skin infection caused by MRSA or something like that. He gave me Clyndamicin and told me to clean it with Hydrogen Peroxide and Neosporin. The symptoms went away in about a week. The whole episode lasted almost 4 weeks. My question is since you are an expert in dermatology:
1 How common is this infection on the penis (Ive never heard of that)?
2 Are Ureologist educated enough in this field to distinguish a Herpes infection from a standard skin infection just by looking at it?
3 The area is still pink from where this occurred. It doesnt hurt. It almost looks like a scar. Is this normal?
4. He said I am circumsized but the circumcision isnt that great and it caused the skin to bunch up under the head and trap bacteria inside. Doe this sound common to you?
This sounds like an irritation, not an infection or an STD. I suggest you make an appointment with a dermatologist, and while you are waiting that you use over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone twiece a day, and do your best to avoid friction or irritation.
Best.
