painful recurring face infection (boil)

HELP!
For the past two years I have been getting painful recurring face infection (boil)  on different parts of my face (my chin, above eye, on rim of ear, on skin just in front of earlobe... anywhere.

I feel one coming on and I call in a perscription for Dicloxacillin 500 mg and take 4 a day (28 pills).  It goes away and I am fine for 3 to 4 months and I get another one different place.  The Dr. at the clinic I go to says that I probably have an infection in my nose that is the cause of re-infecting ... I have swabbed a special antibiotic in my nose for a number if days to try to kill it (Dr. even had my husband do it to, just incase It was somehow from him).  That was about a year ago and I still get these things.  Early on I would go longer before I took antibiotics but it would grow very fast and very painful.  The first one I got had to be lanced by a surgeon because it was so big ... and I have never felt so much pain... I then took them VERY seriously from then on... I don't know what to do I want them to stop and I hate(!) taking so much antibiotics ... I know that is not good for you at all...
I go to a free clinic ... so there is just so much they can do... they give me refills of the Dicloxacillin and I take them every few months because I have to...
This is painful and scary...

Has anyone else had a problem like this???

I too, have had painful skin ulcer/lesions/boils appear on my face the last 3 years. They start of as a mild pimple that deepens then enlarges within a matter of days. These continue to become infected and last for months. Growing quite large (the size of a quarter)I have them appear on my chin, eyebrows, cheek, around mouthline. I now have scars after they clear up. I have tried antibiotics, cortisone shots, and various other drugs to help with this disorder. The doctors have taken swabs to see if is an MRSA but to no avail. My first outbreak frightened me, I thought perhaps it was a form of skin cancer. I had surgery done on the first lesion on my chin, but since that time I have just had to sit it out and wait. I have become very creative in trying out different cosmetics to camoflage the areas and or use prothetic tape...etc. to hide the ulcers. The doctors have hinted that perhaps I am a skin picker. I had no idea what that was, and after doing research was insulted that they dismissed this phenomen that I have been dealing with for the 3 years now as a neurosis. THe doctors tell me to just not touch them, which do not. I only touch the area during cleansing morning and night, yet these are definitely a cellulitis type skin infection. I wish I could find out more about this skin disorder as well.

OMG! just saw your post. i sympathize with u because i'm going through the same thing. tired of taking antibiotics because nothing seems to work. i have so many scars on my face now  and the funny thing is, i'm not a makeup kinda girl so imagine how i feel. my social life is nothing to talk about. all i do is give excuses every time my friends invite me out, i only like to hang out late at night with ppl i'm comfortable with. just last year i decided to cut my hair and go natural but i cant even rock my natural short hair since i have so many scars on my face..... someone should just give me a solution to this problem.

I have a similar condition and would love to chat with you. I have been dealing with a recurrent MRSA infection on my face for 2 years! I too have been accused of picking...which is partly true as onece there is a sore, I tend to pick it to death. A little neurotic in that sense (but only about blemishes). But...if there was nothing to pick, I wouldn't be picking. I can't stand to leave that festering junk in my face. Ugh! My email address is ***@**** if you would like to share stories/advice. Thanks and good luck

try this.. It may not be a cure but it will slow down the re-ocurrance of these lesions. Try drinking green tea 2 times daily for atleast 1 month. Also, get vitamins A,B,C... make sure when you purchase Vitamin A that it is from fish liver oil... and only fish liver oil... Anything else may cause a reaction with the infection. these will detox your system and make your immune system become more efficient. If anything the antibiotics are not reacting anymore cause the virus has learned to cope with them... Anti biotics are good temporary fixes... If you are use to taking them, the virus will only come back worse. I had this problem and started taking into consideration my health and diet. I started taking vitamins and detoxing after i got a boil the sixe of a baseball on my face... it was the 3rd one i had gotten in 6 months. After that i used these remedies, and its been 1.5 years since i have had a re-ocurrance. Just thought i would share my insight. Hope it works for you as it did for me.

How is your infection progressing/improving? I would still love to have a discussion with your concerning both our plight. I have become an armchair expert on this condition. Please post a response if you are interested in what I have learned recently with respect to MRSA. Thanks!!

For the last year I've been having recurring face boils.  I got rid of the problem by taking fish oil supplements.  I still get the “beginnings” of a boil, but it never continues to a point where it’s noticeable.  It’s as if it’s trying to take hold, but my body can now fight it off before it can be anything but a minor pimple.

I was curious if anyone else has had success with increasing the amount of Omega 3 in their diet using fish oil?

Hi everyone,
I too have been suffering with recurring boils on my face for about 5 yrs they usually happen every few months and occur on either side of my nose close to my eye. I have seen a dermatologist and it seems that my only option is to jsut start taking anti biotics as soon as i feel one, but that barely slows the growth and certainly doesn't stop them(not to mention the drs treat me like i am trying to get a perscription for narcotics or something).  I use hot compresses to tryto soften them and have used honey to try to bring it to a head, I was just wondering if anyone else had any home remedies, and also if anyone has  heard of any other treatment aside from anti biotics. I will be grabbing some fish oil today, might as well give it a shot.
i am really glad i came across this forum, I feel all of your pain(literally i have had this intensly painful boil for a week)
take care and please add any home remedies you may have

So glad I am not alone in this... 6 years here... I want to get pregnant, but then what if I get a boil? No antibiotics then. My lymph node was sore this morning and I just found a spot. Drs think I'm crazy too. I have tried green tea, fish oil and tumeric. Nothing helps. I also get a deep cough and horribly tired when I get these things... and ones that get close to the lip area get golfball sized. How can I go out of the house like that?

I have had a boil on my chin for at least 10 yrs...it comes and goes. Always in the same spot. It hurts so bad, I cannot talk or eat. Sleeping is out  of the question. One time I was leaning my face off the bed to relieve the pressure. I woke up a few hrs later and my entire face was swollen. My family and friends know to stay away from me when it comes. I am a bear. I am in so much pain. But when it finally drains it feels so good and the pain goes away immediatly. I have just dealt w it. I had no idea anyone  else had this  problem. It seems to have taken a break in the last few yrs. Keepn my fingers crossed.

Hey all I too have dealt with 2 hideous bumps on my upper left cheek. They are fairly large, about the size of a dime and a nickle and one is right in front of the other. It seems like they swell and go down from time to time but even when they go down they are still large and embarrassing. These 2 boils, cycst, pustules, or whatever they be have never left since I was cursed with them. I have literally had them so long I dont even remember how many years its been, if I had to guess though I would say over 9 years at least, and if I did get rid of them now I would probably feel weird not having to worry about hiding the left side of my face wherever I go.
Ive tried getting rid of them many ways and also talked to a doctor that said i would need to have a plastic surgeon operate. I was like, WHAT? I mean come on what the hell, slicing up my face cant be the only way to rid of these things. I am trying methods to drain with other natural ways again but still they like it right where they are and wont go without a battle.
They really need to go away though and soon! Theyve turned me into a freak it feels like, and not just because theres 2 big unsightly bumps on my cheek, but way deeper. I can tell that my personality is very pessimistic, hopeless, and lack confidence now. I've become an addict and major alcoholic because at first I just wanted to forget they were there and have been doing it so long now it feels I cant gain control.
Ive wasted the last 9 years of my life because of these things and its time for me to grow up. I think the only thing that will turn my *** around would be getting rid of em like old party friends when trying to get clean and sober.
I am very pleased this post came across my search, it feels good to see that there are others who deal with this **** too. I hope all of us can banish this bane physically and mentally cause its getting really old if you know what I mean.
Please feel free to get at me if you have any suggestions, questions, advice, or even just wanna chat. I am actually a really fun person once you get to know me.
                                                                                                   Peace-N-Love All.

had the same situation
needed to go to er because the location of the boils caused my eyes to swell and close
I was put on antibiotic levaquin
it reduced swelling
but my picking the boil or possibly  the size of the boil left ice pick scars  on face

I only had one recurring outbreak since then
so I decided to  do a 10 day fast with only lemon diluted water red cayenne pepper and maple syrup (a master cleanse)
then I built up my immune system
by elimininated cane sugar, white bread, junk foods, meats
I also stopped eating chicken
drink lots of water, chamomile and green and other herbal teas
sweeten only with maple syrup or agave nectar

I dont allow anything to upset me
I read the word of God ,Jesus is my Lord and
Saviour and perfect Peace

Hi All!
I really empathize with you.  I too had what I thought were boils, (it was cystic acne) which always appeared on my cheeks for about 10 years.  They really, really affected my self esteem, they got very large and painful, and even though I never picked at them unfortunately they still left scars...I tried loads of things over the years, My doctor suggested I try an antibiotic, which cost £100 per month...(I did try a topical antibiotic when I first started to get them) I think it is better to try to find out what's causing them in the first place or surely they would just come back.  I do agree drinking green tea is beneficial.
Anyhoo, I finally discovered what was really causing mine - DAIRY, especially cheese!  As soon as I stopped eating dairy they cleared up, unbelievable!  If i eat anything that has cheese in now I would be guaranteed to get one.  I wish I had found this out 10 years ago.  I know that this isn't going to be the case for everyone but it's definitely what caused mine.
As far as products are concerned I recommend Dr Hauschka Normalizing Day Oil.  I hope this helps.  Take care : )

i can totally relate to shermoen and others who have dealt with these boils/cysts on their face. for a year and a half, i have had this dime-sized cyst on my forehead. 5 months ago i finally broke down and went to the dermatologist and had the cyst removed. i dont have insurance, so i paid out of pocket. within 2 weeks, the cyst was back as large as it was before being removed. talk about discouraging. it makes me feel so ugly, and like not leaving the house. i guess i should consider myself lucky because it is on my forehead, and i can hide it with bangs, but i know its there and im constantly looking in the mirror to keep it covered. lately, i have wondered if maybe its not a cyst but a boil. how can u tell the difference? any good ideas for treating this monster? this was the first time i had anything like this, only minor acne before. any advice would be appreciated.

its good to know that im not alone in this.iv went to see doctors about my reacurring boils i get under my eyes, next to my nose, and on my forehead.
and every time i see them they tell me to ''quit picking at my face'',,well,,.they think they can just assume someone has poor hygene and their job is done.iv tryed everything,,,banana peels, hot compress, the beer bottle trick, and all of them have made them worse.iv been dealing with this problem since i can remember,,its embarassing, painful, and can change someones perspective on life.i have a hard time keeping a job because of it sometimes because my bosses think im on drugs or something. so much love to all you guys and if anyone comes up with a good cure,,,of even a good remedy let me know,,,thanks
