passing it around

OK- 5 wks ago I had an encounter with a new male partner.  Kissing, oral on me, lots of rubbing on each other, but no intercourse.  He put his penis between my breast and ejaculated on my chest.  Next encounter, lots of rubbing on each other, oral on me, oral on him, he ejaculates on himself and my sheets. I know he's heterosexual and divorced. Several days later, I had a couple of bumps that were painful on my chest- white tops and then they turned to scabs. Underarms sore but now swollen lymphs to feel and it's gone.  bumps still there somewhat. 1 wk I get a cough (live in the south Pollen season) with drainage that I still have.  About 3 wks my toddler gets a rash on her buttocks.  both sides patches of red bumps with white heads.  She got a bad cough this past week and I took her to Dr.  He looked at it and said it looked viral and could be related.  Meanwhile, I had 99 temp and felt terrible last week, throat feels swollen still but no lymph nodes swollem anywhere, behind my ear was hurting.  Also noticed for 1 day the skin between my little finger on both hands was peeling flaking. Got a yeast infection(cleared it with OTC med)(2nd mth of Nuva ring and just b4 period) Night sweats also but have always had.  Pimple like bumps 1 or 2 at time in crease of legs but no blisters, follicious(spelling?)or herpes? Anyway, my other daughter says to me tonight that her anus is hurting and it looks like she has a bump on her buttocks.  I'm worried to say the least.  As bkgrnd.  I'm a widow. cared for husband with melanoma. First intimate encounter.  Feeling incredible guilt and fear for STD and HIV.  Worried I have given something to my children, but how?  They sleep with me and each other at times.  I got tested for STDs 10 days after exposure and was negative for everything but HSV1 oral.  didn't know that.  I know that's not long enough for HIV so I'm just in a severe panic about it and this rash on my kids.  What do you think on all this madness as I am beside myself with worry? What have I done to us?  Thanks.

I don't actually think you've done anything.  I think the symptoms you describe in yourself and your children are most likely viral in nature and have nothing to do with your sexual encounter.  By the way, HSV-1 antibodies just mean that you were exposed at some point to oral cold sores, but not that you have active herpes, oral or otherwise.  Practicing safe sex if you have intercourse is of course a good idea, as you realize.  Meantime, I think you're fine.  Just stay in touch with your doctor about your symptoms, which ought to resolve soon.

Best.

You do not have HIV.  Relax.  The encounter you describe (oral sex) is extraordinarily low risk. It is also very unlikely that this man had HIV in the first place, and again even if he did, it is virtually impossible for you to have been infected from the acts you describe.  Take an HIV test in 4 more weeks for your own peace of mind, if you wish, but I assure you, you will be absolutely fine.

As for what is causing your and your children's symptoms, I'll leave that to the doctor, but I'm sure it is nothing important and, if anything, is being magnified by your stress and worry.  Children get bumps on their bodies all the time as well as colds and flus.

Anyway, relax.  Also, check out Dr. HHH's forums on HIV/Safe Sex and STDs on this site for additional infomration.  Good luck.

OH and I paniced because I read folliculitis could be a sign of HIV too.

Sorry, I kept forgetting things.  I also have gaps in my eyelashes where they have fallen out.
