random red scab

I had something on my lip, it never turned into a blister but it was 2 small reddish scabs. I went to the doctors and he said it was a kind of cold sore but it wasn't raised from the skin, directly on my lip and when i got home the scabs came off, I'm confused.

Whether or not it was a cold sore can be diagnosed by investigations. You need to get some investigations like sample from the sores to identify the virus, culture analysis, Tzanck smear, antigen and antibody studies and blood sampling for antibody studies done to confirm the diagnosis. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
