Cyst Problem

N09
I developed a cyst at the base of my penis.  It's pretty large (almost dime sized) and I've had it for at least two weeks now.  I had one a few years ago further up on the penis, and either it came to a head, or I think I actually poked at it with a sterlized needle and drained most of it, and my body absorbed the rest...hard to remember.

Anyway, I've poked at this one and got some puss out, some blood.  But it really doesn't seem to be going down.  It doesn't hurt, of course.  But when erect there is a very unsightly lump on the base.

What is the best way to take care of this without some crazy surgery, and without going to the doctor?  I've heard of putting a hot compress on it...cortizone shots (again, I'd like to avoid the doctor if possible)...or should I keep needling it until I get all of it out (I know that method isn't the most "medical", but it's worked in the past)????

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Sorry, but I already did.  The more you try to rush it, the longer it will take.  That's just the way the body heals.

You do not need to worry about sexual activity or transmission while the spot is going down, in case you were wondering.  If your partner has concerns, ask her to log on and read my comments.

One last note....I REALLY don't want to have to wait this out...I know it can take months for the body to absorb it.  So please don't tell me that's my only option!  :)  Thanks!

Please stop poking, prodding, or needling.  This should most emphatically not be removed surgically.  I suggest that you apply an over-the-counter antibiotic like bacitracin or neosporin twice daily, and that otherwise you leave it completely alone.  The body will slowly reabsorb it, and it shouldn't leave any mark at all.  If it worsens (without poking!), persist, recurs elsewhere, you'll need to see a doctor in person.

Best.
