rash that won't go away

Okay.... let's preface this in that I haven't had sex since May (protected), and this started in Late July.

Sometime late july I woke up with a very red and angry rash on the head of my penis. (raised edges, very red.). No blistering, no itching, no burning sensation when I pee'd and no discharge.

The next day I got an anti-fungal cream and put it on. The angry red/raised edges part of this went away. But there was still a redness.

For the last two months I have treated it with hydrocotizone (I have not been able to make it to a doctor yet... as my work schedule has kept me travelling a lot).

The strange part is that the rash does go away. But it comes back. If I use the Hydrocortizone now for a few straight days, the rash goes away. As soon as I stop, it comes back.

When it comes back now, it's a bit different, it can be a little scaly. but no peeling, or anything like that. It doesn't feel raw to the touch, and it doesn't hurt.

I will be going to a doctor as soon as I can, but it's really wearing on my brain as to what this could be.

I can add photos if need be. But didn't want to do this up front, to avoid offending anyone.

Thanks for the comments. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow (I finally was able to get something). It's only with my GP at this point... so we'll see if I need to get to a dermatologist as well.

again, thanks, and i'll post back here when I've found out what it is.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Unfortunately, without clinical examination it is very difficult to make a diagnosis.A few possibilities to your symptoms are dermatitis due to friction or irritation, irritant dermatitis to soaps, detergents etc, balanitis(inflammation of the penis)or cherry angiomas(Cherry angioma is a cherry-red to purple colored benign skin tumor. A cherry angioma is painless and harmless and can be removed by cryosurgery or electrosurgery)

Diagnosis can only be confirmed after clinical examination. So pls consult a dermatologist for that.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
