red mark on penis

The other day i noticed a red somewhat round discoloration/irritation on the head of my penis. It does not itch, burn, hurt or anything. There are no bumps or blisters or sores. It has been there now for 5 days and has not changed in size, color, or any discomfort. When i touch it it feels like dry skin but doesnt look flaky like dry skin would appear. This is driving me crazy. I know i am not a professional but sometimnes i feel that the only explination is an STD. The size of this discoloration is about a 1/2 inch in diameter. I do intend on going to get tested for std's now anyway ( i normally go once year just incase) but now i am scared that it may be something. How possible is it that it is not an STD and just some skin irritation. From my explination and your experience do you think this is herpes or another STD.

Thanks I am goin crazy and i need some advice

I have something similar. Near the head of my penis I have a red mark that is not painful , itchy or sensitive. The skin gets dry and flakes off, but the irritation is still present. It seems to be fading. I'm planning on getting and STD test, but I doubt its an infection. I'm at a loss, and that somehow makes it more disconcerting.

I don't think this is an STD--it certainly doesn't sound like one.  Irritation sounds much more likely to me.  I understand why you're anxious, but I think what you ought to do is wait till you see a doctor and leave the spot alone till then.  If it's still there--it may have gone away by then--you can find out and be tested.

Best.

You worry for nothing. doesn't sound like a STD to me at all. It is very common to have bumps, redness on the penis. Most of the time it is from friction. Put some mosturizer on it.
