red rash on penis gland

red rash on penis gland

Good Morning

I posted on the std expert board last week.  Dr Handsfield answered question and highlighted it could be a skin issue such as balantitis.  Below is extract

I noticed the below the night after washing penis with Dove shower gel creme.

" I have been checking myself everyday about 10-15 times and washing everyday , however yesterday I got a shock that when Pulled my forseskin back, I noticed 2-3 (1-2mm) tiny red blemishes (looked sticky) and in a perfect line, slightly raised on the head of my penis towards the bottom.  No where else on penis is effected. This morning they had become filled with pus and where popped and by this evening they are now not as prominent and just the skin aroun them is blotchy red. What could they be?  I work in oily enviroment so wonder if it could be related to me constantly checking them. "

Could you please advise on the below:

I noticed two small red bump like spots on my penis lower down on glans (glands) in a perfect row, the following day these turned to a pus like spot that seemed to pop with ease and in some cases oozed the pus on its own.  (only small amounts)  The redness spread to around 2cm and contained little redbumps that where clustered that turned into pus spots, again these just spread in a horizontal like rash/inflammation.  No pain or itching just looks sore

A few days later there was an outbreak of red patches all over penis head.  After applying Altargo oinment the new outbreaks dissappeared but the original stayed

I applied altargo ointment for five days to original rash that if anythinh looked to make it worse and the rash became burn like. There has been no pain or itching just very unpleaseant to look at.

I have stopped using the Altargo Oinment now and the rednesss seems to be fading on the original outbreak after about 11days.

Can you advise on what the possible causde of this could be

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum and thank you for posting your health concern. We are glad to hear that lesions are healing.

Multiple small papulo-pustules (bumps) with local erythema (reddness) on glans (glands) penis, could be caused by quite a few factors/diseases: poor hygiene; irritation due to friction, or use of irritating topical products including soap (especially if not properly washed off); pustular psoriasis (typically lesions have circular distribution);  candidiasis (yeast infection); lichen sclerosus, etc.

It is not recommended to apply random therapy before correct diagnosis is established by a physician.

Wishing You Optimal Health and Happy Holidays,
Dr. Jasmina Jankicevic

HI

Just to clarify since stopping the Altargo treatment the inflammation has dissappeared and no longer do I have white pus filled spots.  It seems to be healing nicely.

However really concerned in what it could have been.

Since last comment had an outbreak of red pimples on top part of penis head, these have come and gone before.  Do you have any idea why they are re-occurring.

I am wasjhing penis in shower without soap, have around 15-20 little inflamed pimple like spots now

Just another update these have now gone down again and not as red, can still see tiny pimples but dont stand out as much.  Tip feels slightly itchy every now and then, mostly when I start thinking about it.  Im really worried on why they appear and disapper so quickly.
