red scrotum

About 5 or 6 weeks ago i developed a red irritated scrotum. The Symptoms include : reddness, exaggerated veins, irritation(crawling or prickling feeling), when active it seems to sweat more, on rare occasion it itches(mostly underneath). It follows a distinct boundary with the redness ceasing right where the scrotum meets the rest of the body. Went to the doctor a few weeks ago he said most likey irritation.

He perscribed "hydrozole" which did nothing but take a bit of the edge off the irritated feeling. i went back after trying for 3 days with no avail. Apparantly a fungus would have showed signs of improvement so he put me a stronger topical steroid and libilex antibiotic. This did not help and he has refered me to a dermotolgist. In the meantime(with exceptions) i have been showering, blow drying then applying baby powder to avoid the discomfort at work which has helped slightly but not entirely

.2 days Prior to this condition i spent 3 consecutive days of driving 8 to 10 hours per day. One late night  while staying in one of the hotels, i came back from the bar and took a swim in the pool, did not shower, just dried off and went to sleep. I left the next morning at the crack of dawn for another long day of driving. I first remember noticing it the day after that. Also the first night of the trip in a hotel i remember using a friends shower gel/cream/soap/foam, or something. I don't think it was anything medicated but seemed different to regular soap.

This is what i thought would have caused it but now i'm not sure as the doctor thinks his perscriptions would have cleared up any condition caused by these events.

About 2 and a half months i was stupidly drunk and had a sexual encounter with a woman of questionable morals. (Pardon the rudeness, but i feel it necessary). There was no intercourse, though there was baby oil, and genital contact. Im not sure if this is related but i have been reading lots of threads about "red scrotum syndrome" and some members of forums have chanced that as a possibility of infection. Could this be hsv1 or hsv2? the doctor did not mention anything, however i have not yet been tested. could this be a defense mechanism to these viruses or anything more sinister?

From the forums i gathered numerous theories ranging from excma, or skin conditions related to stress(alot of dermatoligists have pescribed anti depressants.) many believe that this condition was created due to stress and/or over-washing following to a dubious sexual encounter. Could stress and/or over washing really create a condition like this? In my case, an hour, and for a few days after the sexual encounter i did wash that area convincingly, but after that i think it was pretty normal. I Have been quite stressed about this incident(on and off, generally i was ok most of the time after the first month) as i am not the person who see's that incident as anything other than disturbing. It was also very hot and humid at the time, would it be possible that this is an infection cause by vaginal fluids left on the scrotum in the hot humid weather?

Nerve damage was another theory thrown around in the forums, at the bottom of the spine. Is there any merit in this? As far as other skin conditions go i haven't had much. I have had a red, bumby itchy rash(like pimples) on my chest for a year or two prior to this situation which seemed to go away then re-appear on occasion. Not sure if this is related.

Apologies for so many questions i'm just so confused, concerned and helpless over this situation.

My appointment for the dermatologist is in ten days time. I'm not sure wether to undergo his treatments, or if i should just try my best to forget about it and hope it goes away.  As in some forums, the use of topical sterroids has been shunned and has said to worsen and prolong the life of this beast.

Your knowledge, help and understanding would greatly appreciated

This is still going on and we are still suffering. Jan / 2016

I received unprotected oral sex from a woman I didn't know very well, soon after developed HSV1 and red scrotum at exact same time. Red scrotum has persisted for 2 years. I already had hpv from previous relationship. This is 100% related to either of those conditions. Please for the love of God someone figure out a cure to this. This is afflicting so meny men it's near irresponsible to not have a tangible and clinical course of treatment to eliminate the condition. Grace or anyone on this site please HELP. HAS ANYONE BEAT THIS WITH ANTI-BACTERIALS? ANTI-FUNGALS? OR TREATING CANDIDA? HAS ANYTHING WORKED? We are desperate. I am now in a relationship and she has developed itching down there bc of me. This is unbearable...
