red speck inside mole

I have a raised mole on my leg just above my knee, I've had it all my life, recently noticed that there is a small red dot or speck inside of it???  Should I be concerned that this is skin cancer?? And is it possible that It was scratched??  It has Never bled, or changed other then this little spot!!!

This does not sound like skin cancer.  Moles there that long don't usually cause trouble.  The red spot may be a little speck of blood caused by some minor trauma that you don't remember.  I suggest you leave it alone and show it to your doctor next time you go.

Take care.

i had a mole on my leg, brown, and everywhere else it was normal, it had hair through it, and a little darker speck in it, where the hair was coming out. the doc didnt think much of it.

i think that there are normal variations to all moles, some normal looking ones can be atypical and some that dont look like the normal ones can be fine. it depends on how they look under the microscope.

is this correct doc?
