I currently have a severe skin problem on my face with signs of ringworm on my face feet and in different areas of my body.
To give you some background, Im 35 from England although Ive been travelling in South East Asia for the past 4 years, im currently staying in Cambodia.
Previously in my life, I have no health problems and rarely have to see a doctor, I have a clean, healthy, fit life, I have a good job and always stay in nice/clean accomodation and always had a good diet and eat natural good foods and drink little alcohol. My mother took great care of us when we were small and is very clean, healthy and used to be a nurse.
My sister had ezchma as a child, although I never have had any such issues I do have slightly sensitive skin on my face and never usually wash my face with soap and after showering I moisturise which makes me face feel suple and movable, sometimes without moisturising the skin on my face could feel a little tight, but this is only a small feeling generally my skin is very good although i generally have a few spots, probably a few more since ive been staying in Asia with it being very hot (skin more sweaty).
My problem stems from staying on a small but very busy Cambodian island at the end of high season (when there was no rain to wash away bacteria also from my understanding the sewage systems is very poor/non-existant), also I stayed in a Resort with 3 big dogs which were well looked after although one of which had a problem with its skin and was loosing fur and scratching a lot, there were no roads on the island with only jungle paths and beac
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/new_with_new_subject?forum_id=65#hes/rocks, almost everyday I would visit the beach or walk in the jungle more often the dogs would follow, perhaps very stupid with open cuts and not suprising things took longer to heal.
Although, I and many other people I met who stayed there for a long period of time had issues with infections from cuts, I indeed also managed to cut my feet several times which took a long time to heal/became slightly infected, also I started to find small white spots on my feet and even hands (probably around 6-8 spots in total) of which, many became very small red infected areas which opened and took quite a while to heal.
One specific place which I cut (stood on something sharp) on the thick skin on the ball of my foot took a long time to heal, when healing I found it very itchy around the area and almost feeling like it was under the thick skin on the ball of my foot/changing places slightly, I remember many times feeling like I wanted to scratch it to death on a sharp stone/rock.
So, (perhaps im wrong but) I think every stems from this cut, which happened around 8-9 months ago now, as I was stupid enough not to treat the issue then it has now spread throughout my body. Around 3 months ago, whilst staying in a brand new clean apartment in a town, my foot starting itching lots more, especially at night and I found it difficult to get to sleep also at around the same time I started noticing it on a few other places on both of my feet including quite bad on my heal, which has now totally healed with no scar (my heal).
I have been using different antifungus creams and rubbing/taping garlic to the areas on my feet.
Around a month ago I started noticing subtle faint white lines on my face and also in my hair, and a few different places on my body (back arms, stomach) which seemed to keep moving around/slightly changing position daily, at this point I visited a doctor and different pharmacys again for advice, and started taking Canditral, itraconazole tablet medication 100g twice a day, and also Mekonazole, ketoconazole cream, along with applying garlic and apple cider vinegar too all areas with ringworm, and making footbaths at night and applying cocunut oil afterwards (as im sure you are aware all recommended natural remedies for ringworm) my feet have been improving and although there is a bit of scaring (from being in the sun with the cuts healing).
5 days ago I woke up in the morning with red areas on my face where the white lines had been, like the ringworm had flarred up over night, and I felt a little more of my hair had also fallen out, I then purchased some shampoo with itraconazole in and also applied it to my face, which I now feel I definetly shouldn't have and really dried out my skin, after I applied garlic, which ive been doing for a while now without any problems, my face was red before this process from the ringworm but the next morning was very red as per the photos.
Yesterday I visited 2 general doctors in 2 of the best hospitals/clinics in this area of Cambodia, they are very small hospitals/clinics and had noone with good experience with dermatology but only a general practitioner and there advice was as follows:
DOCTOR 1
- Stop taking all medicine im currently taking and take the following medicine/cream (below) and return to him in 3 days
-- Medixon, Methylprednisolone 16g (6 tablets: day 1 take 3 tablets, day 2 take 2 tablets and day 3 take 1 tablet)
-- Hydrocortison cream
-- Bepanten cream
DOCTOR 2
- Stop taking all medicine im currently taking and take the following medicine/cream (below) and return to him in 10 days
-- Telfast HD, Fexofenadine HCl 180 mg (tablet: 1 per day for 10 days)
-- Tramsome cream (apply 3 times a day)
Id really appreciate your advice on what I should do, I have now been taking the Canditral tablets for around a month and am concerned about taking for a long period of time and the side-effects, also with 2 different prescriptions from the doctor I am unsure what to do or how much there advice is based on knowledge and experience, as they said themselves (the doctors) they are not specialists/dermatologists.
Many many thanks in advance, im really in need of a some help here, thanks again!!!
