Too wierd I too have been complaining to my Doctor that I feel like ive been licking a salt block. He said it may be alergies. My sputum is clear real thick and taste like pure salt. I quit smoking for four years and started again for the past year and it seems the new chemicals they add to cigerrettes fire retardent may be the culprit. I had lung x-rays and they seem to be clear. Could the chemical for fire be of danger other than of course the obvious danger ciggerettes already possess?

Hi,

From your description it seems that it could be related to a combination of your smoking habit and the chemical exposure at work.

It would be advisable to consult your doctor and get the relevant investigations done including a blood test and a chest xray.

Let us know about how you are doing and what your doctor advises.

Regards.

I am a smoker with a smokers cough...I have been doing some heavy duty yard work for the past month and I am sure I am breathing in a lot of stuff...mulch etc. No chest pain just the salty sputum. Heath is good and feel fine other than this...brushing does not seem to help I have been doing that and it is better in the morning when I get up and then gets worse throughout the day the more I cough.

Regards and thanks.

Hi,

Do you have any associated cough or chest pain?

Are you exposed to some chemicals or fumes etc? Do you have any tooth caries or gum infection?

You could try some warm saline gargles, brushing twice daily.

Let us know the above details so that we may be able to help you with your doubts.

Regards.
