severe itch

Hi, I have a really bad itch that is all over my body but I do not have any visible rash. It feels like its internal and its really bad. Whenever I scratch one spot it makes another spot itch just as bad. It starts with my arms and then spreads everywhere else. I went to the docters and they gave me some allergy meds but they don't seem 2 work. Any help 2 what might be causing this itch would be great

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hi

We need to identify the triggers for the itching. Avoiding these triggers is the first and best way in preventing any form of hypersensitivity reactions. Your case may be allergic or contact dermatitis. They may present with some forms of redness or rash which is associated with itchiness. Taking oral antihistamines or applying topical corticosteroids may help.

I suggest that you inform your physician of any medication you plan to take since antihistamines do have side effects.
