skin fungus/white spots

I have had this so called fungus for years.  I have tried everything to get rid of it.  Including the blue shampoo, topical anti fungal creams perscriptions.  I need help I can't stand it anymore.  What is the name of this "fungus" and could laser resurfacing work once and for all?

Hello,

The symptoms are suggestive of tinea versicolor. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates.

Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Like for eg(selsen shampoo but not selsen blue),ketoconazole(nizoral shampoo), clotrimazole, miconazole or terbinafine etc.

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

my dermatologist just put me on a 7 day steroid pill for mine! I am hoping that it helps although I'm told that after the fungus goes away it can take awhile for the skin color to fill back in!
