i also suffer from smelly scalp during the summer when i perspire a lot. i just massage Virgin Coconut Oil on my scalp after shampooing and sleep with it overnight. it is available in most asian stores and it get rids of all kinds of skin fungi. a few days of treatment will get rid of the pungent smell. of course make sure you regularly change your pillow cases and bedsheets to stop the fungus from coming back. if your pillows already smell, better buy new ones.
my daughter had this condition and now my son has it, my Gp is quite useless as i have been given the Selenium suphide a shot for sometime now, over 3wks, to no joy. is there something i can buy over the counter as an ointment? actually i was wondering if diprosalic ointment could work?
im a believer of self help with, of course..with common sense and a little knowlegede of the medical aspects.
Hi,
Tinea capitis is an infection of the scalp by mold-like fungi called dermatophytes. It can be persistent and contagious. You can catch it through direct contact with someone who has the condition, or if you touch contaminated items such as combs, hats, clothing, or similar surfaces. It usually presents as round, scaly lesions on the scalp and may be red or swollen. Diagnosis is based on the appearance of the scalp. as well as a skin lesion biopsy with microscopic examination.Anti-fungal medications, taken by mouth, are used to treat the infection. It is important to keep the area clean. A medicated shampoo, such as one containing selenium sulfide, may reduce the spread of infection.
It is best to see your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
