sunburn and loss of pigment

My 12 year old recently had a  large burn on his shoulder.  It scabbed and now 2 months later he has loss of pigment where the scab was ( the skin is smooth).  Will the pigment come back?  Are there any products that we can use to help it? Thanks

It looks like post inflammatory hypopigmentation. Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented  areas but at such a young age it is not advisable to use them . If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA).
