Hi
This is likely to be a postinflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation condition. The cause of this may have a molecular or genetic basis but is not definitely established. For some persons, their pigment cells appear to be readily "traumatized" by inflammation and other disease processes. There is really no definite treatment for this. This may be a benign condition and the skin should revert to normal although this may take months or years.

Hi
How would you describe these discolorations? Are they whitish patches, dark or reddish?
These may be postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, dermatitis, or keloids. Keloids may readily be identified as they are raised scars over affected areas. Dermatitic skin conditions may present with redness and a weeping or wet rash. In some cases, the itchiness may cause scarring. This may be true with insect bites which cause itchiness and inflammation in the area. The inflammation could have "traumatized" the melanocytes or pigment cells causing discolorations.
