Help!!!!!!

I read 'allergic reaction to the sun' on this site. I have the same problem with the the rash or hives or whatever every time the sun touches my skin for just a couple of minutes. Sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays does work but I would like to know what are the signs of Lupis because everyone is telling me I should be checked for it.

                                                                                          Thanks,
                                                                                             Beth

No I haven't seen a doctor about this. It really bothers me but I don't have insurance and can't afford a dr's visit. It never crosses the bridge of my nose it's only on the sides of my face and my neck and upper arms. I've asked alot of people who are sensitive to the sun if they have ever had the same reaction but only one person has had the exact same reaction that i have. I have an extreme reaction to heat in general. I always keep it really cold at my house. People compare the temp here to a meat locker.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

I do understand your concern. How would you describe your symptoms? Photosensitivity which refers to a spectrum of skin conditions like solar urticaria may present with a rash each time with sun exposure. In solar urticaria, the rash or hives appear a few minutes after exposure to the sun and these  rash involves areas of the body that are exposed to the sun. For lupus, the rash is referred to as a malar rash. This rash may sometimes be misdiagnosed as rosacea as it covers the cheeks and crosses the bridge of the nose. However, in Lupus, other symptoms may be present . A criteria is being followed before the diagnosis of lupus is to be ascertained.

Have you been assessed by a physician already?
