when will it go away??

when will it go away??

My doctor said I have contact dermatitis on my scrotum. I sprayed athletes foot spay their instead of jock itch spray. Then I continued to use jock itch cream after it was inflamed. That was three months ago. He said it usually gets better in a week or so. I called him and he said to wait it out, that theirs nothing he can do.
The redness went away, but it still feels weird. The skin looks normal even under a magnifying glass. But anytime I wear normal under wear, or go for a long walk, the skin hurts. Their is never any problem until clothes touch it.
How long should it take for contact dermatitis to heel?

contact dermatitis and jock itch are two entirely different conditions. jock itch  is a fungus, using antifungal medicine on contact dermatitis( an allergy) can make it worse. try moisturizing with a cream such as cetaphil and wear cotton underpants. it should start to resolve within a week, if not you need further medical care.

you may need prescription steroids either orally or topically.

another short term remedy may be oatmeal baths. be careful using powder there as it may encourage the growth of bacteria and fungus, just adding to your problem.

your best bet, let the rash breathe for as much time as possible
