working out

My name is Shawn, I started to workout about 4 or so hours a day everyday for about 2 1/2 months now. I was worrying about my skin getting dirty due to the sweat that running and other workouts caused. About 3 weeks ago i started to use very hot water on a rag to clean my face after running and working out. Now my nose has turned white with red blotches. I really didnt know what had caused this but i am thinking it might be drying out of the skin, but when i try to use lotion on it and nasal spray to get the color back and remove the red blotches i find my skin stays the same just becomes more oily.  Any ideas? Also how should facial skin care be handled when i am working out 3 times a day morning, afternoon, and night.

Hi,

Wet wipes are wet tissues ; this could be either heat rash, sweat dermatitis or cholinergic urticaria.

thank you very much for your time. What are wet wipes exactly? sorry for the stupid question. Hard to avoid sun exposure here in Florida but i will give it a try i was hoping that would get some color back in my nose.

Hi,

You should note that washing the face with hot water and scrubbing it with a towel is not a good idea.

You could use wet wipes during your workout or even a wet towel - use lukewarm water if required; wash your face with fresh tap water after the workout and use a mild face wash. Keep your face well moisturised and use a medicated sunscreen whenever you go out.

Apply calamine lotion on the face several times daily and try to avoid sun exposure.

You would need to see your doctor for a clinical examination if the rashes persist.
