yeast infection

I've experienced a yeast infection before but...I have not had any reasons to contract a yeast infection. I had not had sex with my partner for over a week and we finally got together and the following day I started to feel a little uncomfortable. That evening my yeast levels were up and I am itching. I feel he was with someone else and passed it to me but after a male has sex with someone with a yeast infection how do they or can they clean theirselves effectively enough not to pass it on. I am pissed and don't know how to take it to him.
