Heart disease can also cause swelling of legs and feet. Has her heart function been checked by her doctor? Just one more idea.
therefore she is be a type 2 diabetes. from the time we discovered she take a medicine to control the sugar blood, but sometimes she also just do a strict diet and not taken any pills.
Type 1 diabetes is where the person is dependent upon insulin to live. The person's pancreas has stopped producing insulin, which the body needs to deliver the glucose in the blood stream to the muscles which need it to operate. With type 2 diabetes, as I understand it, the body still produces insulin but has forgotten how to use it. Type 2 diabetes is normally controlled by diet and exercise, and sometimes pills, but extreme cases can require insulin.
Swelling of the feet is many times caused by poor circulation. In people with diabetes, poor circulation is caused by neuropathy, which is caused by prolonged high blood sugars. There are specific things your doctor can do to treat neuropathy, if that is the cause. Has she had high blood sugars for a long time?

Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes, so your question is hard for me to answer. You say your mother has diabetes, but in none of the descriptions of her conditions do you refer to that. Does she have type 1 or type 2 diabetes? What are her blood sugar scores from testing? Does she take insulin? That kind of information is what helps us answer questions like yours from a diabetes perspective.
