(sorry, don't known what happened)
......inability for long term physical output is diminished even more.  So I tend to stick to stuff that's typically full-tilt output for durations of no more than several minutes.  This suits distances of  500 meters to 1500 meters.  Now that my competitive days are in my rear view, that limitation really doesn't bother me much.  If anything bothers me, it's knowing that there's not much"gas" in the tank these days and recovery takes much longer.  If you decide to adopt a low carb lifestyle, you too may find that you must alter your type of workout.

For me, the key to stepping back from the Type II precipice was near total elimination of "intentional" consumption of carbohydrates.  I eat pounds and pounds of almonds, walnuts, and peanuts, and they all have some carbohydrates.  But I rarely intentionally consume foods like pasta, potatoes, and rice.  I completely avoid fruit juices, sugared soft drinks, and of course candy.  In 9 months, I've dropped from an unmedicated A1C high of 7.2 to an unmedicated 5.6 along with a cholesterol reading of 130.  I participate in some intense exercise for a 60 year old, but it's mostly high output, short duration workout.  As a wiry kid and into my adult years , I recognized that i excelled in sprint type sporting activities that suited my fast twitch muscle fibers, so I got involved if sprint track cycling as well as ice and inline short track speed skating.  Distance events events just weren't my forte.  Now today, without the advantage to carbohydrate load, my

Thanks for all the input. The intent was to see if anyone out there have supplemented their control with supplements. To clarify some question that came up, I am a 47 year old Reliability Engineer and runner that was diagnosed with Type II over a year ago. I take a couple of supplements to help control the conversion of glucose to energy along with medication, diet and exercise. There have been success stories of Type II reversal with proper diet, exercise and medication to include supplements. I dont believe at all a supplement is a cure all, but there are evidense they assist in the battle primarily for Type II, but have shown good support to assist in the battle to control Type I.

I hope this spins some clarity on my question and look forward to more good conversation.

Another thing to do is buy yourself a test kit and learn when to test.  Without seeing the results of your daily intake, you're flying blind.

I'm going to interpret your question just as you type it:

"What are the best supplements to take "WHILE" trying to control......."

Perhaps you can tell more about your condition.  Are you currently on any diabetic control medication?  Are you practicing any special dieting?  Have you had any recent test results?  Knowing this can help us help you.  Low carbohydrate living, can sometimes appear very contrary to a typical, everyday diet.  Personally, I take a mega vitamin along with a trace element supplement called Micro Max.  I've taken it for 20 years after seeing what the animal version, Source did for my sister's horses.  I swear by it.  I also eat large amounts of greens; romaine lettuce, spinach, brocolli, green beans, and brussel sprouts, and turnip greens.  Along with these things, I also have my blood tested every 6 months to not only check my A1C, but to look at my cholestrol, triglycerides, and blood electrolytes.

If you load your diet with proteins and fats, and minimize your carbohydrate intake, you can possibly bring your blood glucose levels back into a near normal range.  This is very dependent on how much insulin you're still able to produce.  But remember, there's no cure, only control.  You can only reverse the symptoms.  Once you've been labeled, you've got it for life.  Good luck.....

Taking supplements will not help control or lower your glucose levels nor reverse diabetes. Your first step is to do what asok mentioned.
