Help sick everyday :(

Hi I'm at my witts end! I wake up every day sick nausea, vomiting, no appetite, hot flashes, no energy, interrupted sleep, off and on sweating soaking the blankets and pillows. Last lab showed my diabetic level was a 6.0 . Over the last 2 years my skin has become very sensitive and my erections are very weak . I have pain in my arms and legs mid and lower back .at night my arms feel like there buzzing with electricity.my pain dr has me on morphine and tramadol. I have tried lots of other meds but nothing has helped with the sensitivity or waking up sick every morning. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel in both hands . I had the release surgery in my left hand which has helped I will definetly get the right hand done this year. Being sick all of the time hurts my wife and kids because I never feel good and would rather just stay home it is even hard to go to church on Sundays :( I know there are others here that suffer the same things I do. What kind of meds are you taking?? Any advice??? Thank you

By the time I was 1 my parents were both drug addicts and my father was in prison for killing a undercover cop but he only did 3 years. He continued be a bad bad man. My mother was very abusive and she hated me. I have had a lot of issues in my life and ran away from god and never had any faith at all . The abuse I suffered made it hard for me to understand why god allowed that to happen. Over the last two years of my life have been extremely high to the lowest of the low but by the grace of god life is great now and I believe I have become the dad that I had always wanted our bond is very strong and we are best friends it's so awesome to be a dad I wish they would stay 9 kids are just so fun at that age. I also have a son that will be 20 years old in a few days I did not do to well raising him .i was young and never had a positive male role model and no clue my wife was the opposite she came from a huge family and they had total respect for their parents they also attended church several times a week but after meeting me I was against church and she did not go once in awhile she went but without me . Now that we have committed our lives in living a Christian life my wife's and I relationship has never been better .... Wow it's almost 3am I need to go to sleep I have to be up by 6 to get the little one ready for school...I can't believe I wrote all of this but nobody knows me so what the heck ;)

Well since the dr gave me morphine er I have been feeling better my appetite is a lot better I still don't have the energy I should and when the morphine fades away the pain is bad. I just want to find out what is wrong a normal person should not have to take morphine . I have an appointment with my primary dr in two weeks I have labs to do tomorrow. I also have an appointment with my pain dr and I will get them both to refer me to the specialist you have recommend . This has been going on for way to long and it has ruined my life. Besides being sick life is great I'm very happily married to my wife of 22 years my kids are very smart and healthy the bills are paid and over the last year my family and I have dedicated our lives to God and attend church weekly . I completed a weekly 10 month small mens group and have been baptized :) my wife is going to get baptized again it's been 35 years for her and my 9 year old also wants to be baptized. My 9 year olds life has changed since we have been attending church. We also pray at all meals and my son and I pray for each other we ask Jesus to give us self control and to help us set an example to others to be kind and treat others like Jesus. I really believe young children benefit from living a Christian life .last year and the beginning  of this year he had a lot of issues with talking to much and not staying focused cot the point where he was suspended for 1 day. We did not know what to do we even considered talking to a doctor about medications. Well after we started praying every morning for Jesus to help him with staying focused and for him to set the example for others . Well he has went from having his desk next to the teacher to being back in the group and has mainted this . His grades have always been good but now it's a&b's with honor rool

mrbackhand - The closest trauma 1 teaching hospital to you is

UCSF Fresno University Medical Center
445 South Cedar Avenue
Fresno, California, CA 93702
559.459.4000

Ask you doctor if his/her clinic/medical center have established a referral protocol with UCSF-Fresno. Also, call UCSF to see if a referral from your doctor is required, and/or how you can be accepted as a patient. Be sure to get copies of your medical records [everything starting from day 1] from your current doctor [by law you have the right to have these] to take/mail to UCSF....specialists want to review your entire medical history to help get to the root of a problem/s.... have your insurance paperwork handy in case they ask questions.  Good luck

With all the intestinal problems you talk about, I really think you should also include a Gastroenterologist, to that list of doctor's.  Have you been checked for gall bladder disease?  That can cause alot of symptoms you are talking about.  I do believe that you have more than one thing going on, though.  The medications that you have and are taking, can also cause alot of the symptoms you talk about.

I would talk to your primary doctor about getting you set up with the proper specialists.  You can get seen quicker, if your primary doctor sets up the appointments.  You don't need different medications right now, you need to find out what is causing your other problems first.

I really am sorry you are having to endure all of this trouble.  Please do not give up hope.  Sometimes it takes a while to find just the right doctor's to do the right testing.  Don't lose hope.  You have a wife and kids to think about and they need you.  Please get to work on seeing some specialist's so you can get your life back and start playing with the kids again.  Yes, I do have faith that it can and will happen.  Keep fighting for the proper medical care that you deserve.  Wouldn't it be great to go off of some medications, instead of increasing them?  All of those medications can cause side effects and a doctor needs to look into that.

You do have an elevated white count, so no matter what that doctor said, it does show that you are fighting an infection some where.  Any numbers over normal are NOT normal.

Good luck to you and please keep us updated.  You have a very interesting case and the more we know, the more you may be able to help someone that is going through some of the same things.  MedHelp is a great place to share your thoughts, so you don't feel overloaded everyday.  Lean on your "new friends," here on MedHelp.  You don't need to go through all of this alone.  That's why MedHelp was created.

Keep your chin up, please?

Don't give up hope. You need to see a specialist/s as you have gone beyond the expertise of your primary care and/or internal medicine doctor/s. You bio is empty so we can't suggest a major teaching hospital [where experts teach and practice medicine] in your area/country.

Considering neuropathy is damage to the nerves, as mention in the previous post, I would suggest seeing these doctors.

A Neurologist specializes in nerve damage and can run test - blood & electrical - to locate and treat damage.

A Rheumatologist specializes in joint pain, arthritis, muscle damage, and vasculitis [destruction of the blood vessels]. Also includes autoimmune diseases.

An Endocrinologist specializes on the endocrine system - diabetes, thyroid and pancreas disorders.

Thanks for the info. I'm on my way to my pain dr he is upping the dose on my morphine. My lab work has come back clear my white blood cell count was a little elevated but other then that the drs say my labs look surprisingly good. I went to the er and I had a MRI and lots of lab work but the drs could not find anything wrong . Can anybody reccomend the kind of dr I should see? Endocrinologist? From my symptoms it seems like I have effects of neuropathy. At this point I just don't see me living like this much longer. Every day I feel like I have the flu nausea, vomiting ,no energy, and I have no appetite. I have lost about 75 pounds over the last 2 years from not eating. Yesterday was a bad day being sick has got me depressed and I feel like my illness is never going to get better :(

Hi,

an A1C of 6 is not terribly high, but could still lead to complications.

Please read the book Diabetes Solutions by Dr. Richard Bernstein.  It will give you some ways to better control your blood sugar.  If the problems are due to diabetes, this would definitelyhelp.

Are you able to exercise?  I would strongly recommend you start exercerising at least 30 minutes a day - even if you feel bad.  it sounds like some of your problem could be causing depression and exercise will help this as well as your diabetic situation.

Do you have a dog to walk with?  If not, maybe your wife or one of your children could walk with you.

Best wishes

Your health issues could be caused by a number of diseases afflicting an internal organ or organs, something we cannot diagnose over the Internet. Your symptoms are quite serious in nature which requires a medical doctor/s expertise. For starters a thorough health evaluation - heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, and testing for internal infection/s. Be prepared to see a Neurologist and Rheumatologist too.
Best of health to you.
