Thanks for the link I will check it out.
Thanks for the info. I see now where I was going wrong with food choices. I just recently learned that low fat food actually has more sugar. I've recently enrolled in a class for diabetic nutrition. I'm looking forward to this up coming class. Thanks again so much for the tips.
The healthy eating I was referring too was to control my diabetes. I have a problem with really going over board with carbs.
Neuropathy is a real problem. Check out this article
http://www.lef.org/Magazine/2007/1/report_benfotiamine/Page-01
It sites a UK study on benfotiamine.
"Clinical trials demonstrate that benfotiamine effectively relieves diabetic polyneuropathy. A recent random, double-blind study in Germany found that diabetes patients with polyneuropathy who supplemented with 100 mg of benfotiamine four times daily for three weeks demonstrated statistically significant improvement in nerve function scores."
Lef sells stuff and so they are always pushing vitamins, but they are reputable company and tent to cite credible studies. You can buy benfotiamine any where -- even walmart!!
I hope it helps you.
Also forgot to add, the low carb, moderate protein and high fat diet will help with reducing pain and improve mobility for your exercising. You will be amazed at how elimination of grains from your diet will help reduce inflammation, which leads to the pain and mobility issues you are experiencing. Try it for one week...you will be amazed at results. Good luck.
Adopting a low carb, moderate protein and high fats (from natural sources) diet will help you control blood sugar and satisfy your hunger. Eliminate grains and starchy stuff, like pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, beans, and eliminate sugars. Eat non starchy veg frequently, while limiting fruits to occasional treats. Don't be shy with good fats (avocado, grass fed butter, olive oil, nuts, etc), and stay away from fake fats like margarine. Opt for high omega 3 fats, like salmon, avocado, butter, and stay away from omega 6 fats ( sun flower, grape seed, etc). High omega 6 fats cause inflammation in body and promotes diabetic conditions/symptoms. At every meal, eat non starchy veg with meat/fish/eggs, and don't be shy with fats (butter, olive oil, bacon, avocado, etc). Stay away from sugar and low fat or no fat processed foods. Eat whole foods as much as possible, and not the processed stuff. Eat full fat dairy, and stay away from low fat or no fat dairy. Don't eat low fat or no fat yogurt, as it has same effect as candy in your body. You will be amazed how well this way of eating will stabilize your blood sugar.
Congrats on taking control
When you say healthier eating What does that mean?
eating healthy for me it means eating to help control my blood sugars (BG). By testing my BG with a meter I found that reducing the carbohydrates (carbs) that I eat was one of the best ways to reduce my BG.
