Navel infection sour/periodic blood

I was having body odor issues, which seemed to improve once I got my sugar down & eliniated sugar + coffee from my diet. But I am having itching/infection & sometimes sour odor from my belly button/navel. If I use newsprint or sometimes tea tree oil it helps, but even when I try really hard to dry my inner navel the irritation & sourness returns. I read that diabetics have issues with infections. There is occasional (slight) blood if I dig in deep, with a q-tip. Any insights on this?

Hi,

You probably should not be digging into your belly button with a q-tip, that is asking for irritation.

Clean it gently with soap and water and pat dry.  Some people may use a little rubbing alcohol to dry it as well.

It is quite normal for some odor from belly button.  But if dry and no discharge you should probably leave it alone.

If there is an infection, or a discharge, you may need a topical antibiotic cream from  your Dr.
