T2 and pregnant

Anyone currently or previously pregnant with T2? I just found out I am pregnant and I was diagnosed 3 months ago with T2 so I am really overwhelmed. TIA!

Here’s some advice from the MedHelp website and our Sugar Sense app on having Type 2 Diabetes and being pregnant:
http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/A-Safe-Pregnancy-with-Diabetes/1754

You can find this on the app by going to the home screen, and clicking the menu bar in the upper left corner. Tap Health Guide, then scroll to "Stay Well." Scroll down for "A Safe Pregnancy With Diabetes." Hope this helps!

Hi,

pregnancy and diabetes are doable and you can have healthy baby.  most important will be to have excellent blood sugars.  Usually they would put women with diabetes on insulin during pregnancy.  WOrk closely with your medical team.  You will need to eat lower carb and particularly restrict sugars.  on the positive side though you can eat plenty of protein, healthy fats and non-starchy veges.

You can do this.  Please come and ask whatever questions you have.

Yes, I had T2 since 2003 and became pregnant in 2011 (at the age of 36)...they considered that double risky.

Anyhow, no worries...keep your doctors appointments, eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and, contrary to old wives tales, start/keep exercising.  Find out what physical activity works best for you.  I did the Walk Away the Pounds DVD and Kegels...pushed my one and only healthy child out in 24 minutes just 6 hrs after my water broke.

By the way, my sugar and cholesterol numbers were so good during pregnancy that I didn't need to take any meds...only prenatal vitamins!!!  I worked closely with my OB/GYN and endocrinologist.

Congrats & best wishes!!!
