Hi,
It can also be diabetes, if you are having swings between very high and very low blood sugars. The A1C is just an average.
You need to check your fasting levels and also 2 hours after eating.
Fasting ideally is < 95 mg/dl, but they say it is diabetic if it is < 126 mg/dl
Two hours after eating is ideally well below 120 mg/dl (optimally 100 or a bit lower), but they say diabetic if it exceeds 140 mg/dl.
Hope this helps
28.7 x A1c - 46.7 =eAG
Using the above formula an A1c of 5.3% equates to 105.41 mg/dl, which is prediabetes.
