need advice

hi was diagnosed last year with type 2 diabetes. think I had it for about 15/20 years before that as the consultant said I had prolific diabetic retinopathy and diabetic neuropathy in my feet which was signs that I had it for a while. anyway my blood sugars are now under control so why do I feel so ill.
I was registered partially sighted in January this year and have regular laser treatment to stop further loss and I can cope with that.
I feel tired all the time even though I have regular B12 injections   and can not walk far without needing to rest and sit down. Also I go from constipation to having runs regularly. Constant indigestion and itchy skin on my back and legs now all round my mouth is red and sore. I have had quite a few dizzy spells (more feeling funny) with a headache after them. My appetite is poor but I have not lost weight although prior to diagnosis I lost loads.
doctor said as my blood count was not bad 7.5 just come in 6months to see how I am then.
is anyone else feeling so rough. my wife thinks I should go back before the next blood check as they are only looking at the diabetes not anything else.

Hello,

Your doctor is wrong.

Metformin will not always keep your blood sugar low.  In many people with diabetes metformin is only part of the management picture.  It may not be enough to keep your blood sugars in check.

If you don't check your blood sugars you have no idea how you are going with diet and exercise and meds and no way of getting feedback.  IT is like driving a car in the darkest night with no headlights.  You've no idea where you're going or what you're doing and of what is or isn't working.

You should have thyroid checked. Please ask for it.

never had thyroid checked but I have B12 INJECTIONS every three months for pernicious anaemia.
my doctor says that on metformin I do not have to test my own sugars as these tablets will always keep it low.

You should also have your thyroid checked and also B vitamin levels checked.

If your blood sugars are still high (please tell us your current levels), this may also contribute to not feeling well.

Hi sorry for your troubles and glad your working on them.

without knowing your Blood sugar (BG) levels at the time of your dizzy spells. its hard to say. dizzy spells can be low BG.

some of the symptoms can be your body not used to the lower BG.
Many of those symptoms can be something else.

some of the Symptoms can be drug side efects,  what drugs are you taking?
