Alcohol and Hypoclycemia

Hello all brand new here.

Let me start by saying I don't have diabetes I know this because I get tested for this every six months. But here's my question since I'm sure some pro's here can help. I recently retuned from my once a year trip to Asia to visit all my buddies who work there. We do this once a year we meet in sin city of Asia (Bangkok) and we proceed to party like it's 1999. I am not much of a drinker at all except for when we do this trip, so what I'm about to ask is not something I partake in on any kind of regular basis, we just think we are back in college and proceed to act and drink like fools.  This trip is usually 5 days and consists of getting up at noon going to the pool and starting with the beer before we eat (extremely stupid I now realize) and basically drink beer all day and most of the night and pretty much only eating dinner. By night 3 I started slowing down on the beer, and on day 4 I think I only had maybe 4 or 5 over the course of 12 hours, but I got a nasty stomach bug and really wasn't eating much just drinking lots of water. Aside from my stomach I started feeling very strange, zero energy, very confused, blurry vision. I now get on a plane for a quick night stop in Dubai and then back to the USA and this is where the about symptoms got worse. I was in the bed in the hotel and I couldn't sleep, yet I also couldn't get out of bed. I was very shakey and full of anxiety (and let me add I still have not eaten because of my stomach). I drag myself out of bed and I was just walking around the room to try to make myself feel better. Extremely confused, very blurry vision, so tired but my heart is racing, anxiety to the extreme, and thinking I'm going to pass out, my hands then start tingling and I'm thinking this is it I'm going to alone in a hotel room 9000 miles away from home. Oh and I also have this stupor not like your drunk (because I stopped drinking the day prior) but like I'm just banging into things.
Well I don't sleep the rest of the night and I'm still feeling awful the next morning and I don't eat again because of my stomach. Well I get on the plane for the 14 hour flight and start to feel better, eating a bit and resting. So they have wifi on the plane and I start doing research and find that it looks like I almost put myself into Hypoclycemic shock (maybe that's not the right term). I really don't think it was withdrawal from the alcohol because for one when I'm home I rarely drink expect for this stupid trip once year and the sensations I had I've never felt before even when I was in college (15 years ago) and we would over do it for a week. Anyway I'm home now and feel fine and told my buddies what had happened and there response was "hunh we felt fine when we left".
Thanks for reading and I hope you folks can give me some insight (even if you just want to tell me I'm a fool).

At 37 you can still drink - but considering that you normally don't drink you should pace yourself when you do, and make an effort to eat.  :)

Sounds like a stomach bug / dehydration / stress all added up together for an unforgettable experience, that I'm sure you don't want to repeat.

Put it down to experience, and enjoy next year's event.  Recommend water in between beers, and  get some snacks as well.

Thank for the response... I guess that what it must be, I was just thinking I did something worse to myself with the week of heavy drinking.  I think that will be my last trip I realize at 37 you can't act like a college student and think your invincible.  :) thanks again.

stomach bug do that to you then you got axniety because you away from home so that make it worse. if you had hypoglycemic you be dead now with no treatment. alcohol plus stomach bug at the same time equal bad news. next time even still sick try eat something easy like soup banana or mash potato.
