Do diabetic children need more sleep?

My 6 year old has a difficult time getting up and getting ready for school in the morning. He is also a Type 1 diabetic. Does one thing have anything to do with the other?

Yes, I test him several times during the night and his sugars are usually great in the morning. I guess he's not a morning person. I just wanted to double check to see if the diabetes had anything to do with it. Thanks.

What is his blood sugar like at 2am, 4am and when he wakes up? Do you test him during the night to make sure he's not fighting a low or high that's robbing him of sleep? I get sleepy when I am low (in the 50s) and as soon as I am higher than 170. As long as his blood sugars are managed well, he does not need more sleep than other kids his age.
