Infusion Set Problems

We just started my six year old on a pump.  Initially were using Quick sets then have tried Siloettes...both insertions on his stomach.  Quick sets were kinking each time.  It appears the siloette also is not delivering insulin.  We've now gone back to shots.  Any thoughts on infusion sets that will be trouble free for a six year old?

I am a voliunter and the mom of a type one diabeic on a pump.  When our daughter first went on the pump we use the bent needle, which is similar to the sil set except is has a non kinkable needle.  I would aso try the site in the butt cheek it tends to kink less ther are there is more far.  Our daughter also usses the back part of the arem and it does not  kink ther.   The tummy kinks because of bending and sitting.

Hope this helps. check back and let us know how it goes.

I am 21 years old and have had type 1 diabetes since I was six.  I've been using an insulin pump for seven years.  I use the quick sets an put them in my hip.  They always got tugged on when in my stomach, and I do a lot of running and am pretty active, as I imagine your six year old is, and it works out great for me.  Also, by changing them every other day I avoid most problems with delivery (sometimes old sets will get pus that will clog the set).
