Worried about my Daughter

I have just recently found out that my daught MIGHT be diabetic. She is 12 going on 13 in June. Recently she had to have one of her toenails removed due to ingrown nails. When we took her back for him to look at it he said it had not healed as well as he thought it would and was infected. He asked me if she is diabetic. We have a VERY heavy history of diabetes in our family and her 2nd cousin has juvinle diabetes. She is over weight by about 30lbs.

Anyway that's the story. So what i did was get a monitor from my sister and started checking it.

Day at the Dr. she had 119 - nothing to eat yet that morning
Day 2 with my check it was 199! She had eaten a frozen burrito and had a glass of sprite 3 -1/2 hours before I checked it.
Day 3 early morning I checked again and it was 104 before breakfast.

Does this sound like someone who might have diabetes? We will get our results on Monday or Tuesday of next week. I would like to hear what anyone thinks on this subject.

Thank you for your information. I need to go to this site you are yalking about. I just got THE CALL from the doc. All tests were good but her fasting was high. He said it was a 37.5 I am not sure what that means. Can you clarify that for me?  But told me that she has onset of Type 2 insuline resistant diabetes. I have a lot of research to do.

It is good that you went to the doctor and got the blood work that you needed to do.  I am not a doctor but have had diabetes for many years.  Fasting sugars are supposed to be under 100.  And your meter can be a few points off-higher or lower-if you look in the archives of this site-I know one of the volunteers explained that a machine can be off I think 20%-
So, again the doctor will have a more accurate reading on the blood sugars.
If your daughter does have diabetes I would contact the JDRF office near you-or log onto the website www.jdrf.org to get helpful information, support and answers to your questions.  I wish you luck and hope her toe gets better as well.
