New freestyle test strips.

Anyone seen / used  the new freestyle test strips?  I was given them just a couple of days ago. The new shape is nice but I'm suspicious of them. http://www.abbott.com/global/url/pressRelease/en_US/60.5:5/Press_Release_0876.htm I've heard it said that sugar is sugar, your body doesn't know the difference. So why should our test strips? I take my blood sugar when I feel like it's high but these things give me numbers in the 80 -90 range, never above 100. I know my blood sugar is above that at times. Even 1 hour after I eat ( even high carb ) it's not above 100. According to the FDA normal blood sugar levels should be around 130 at that time. On the other hand the results kind of make sense since the doctor last told me my average blood sugar was in the 80 range. Still from what I've gathered ether there is something wrong with the strips or me.  Which is it more likely to be? Advice PLEASE?

So it's not just me, I thought something was amiss. Will call customer service Monday.

With my first batch of the new strips I was also getting much lower numbers.  My pharmacist gave me a vial of the old style to compare and there was consistently about 28 points difference between the two strips.  I called customer service and complained and they sent me replacement strips.  The new batch (different lot numbers) were right on.  That says to me there are some quality control problems with the new style.

It says both on their site and the box insert that these strips ( in a orange package ) are compatible. I think my FreeStyle flash is one of the older ones though. I really don't know, thinking of switching meters all together.

Your meter may not be compatible with the new strip. FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite meters must use different strips.
