Sugar, Calories and Insulin

I am on low glycemic index diet.  I am regularly taking sugar readings.  I am taking Humi Insulin R and Humi Insulin N to control my type 2 diabetes.

Humiinsulin R acts in 30 min and has maximum effect 2-4 hours.
Humiinsulin N acts in 2 hours and has maximum effect in 4-12 hours.

Low GI food I take produces rasies sugar in my body slowly and has maximum effect in 2 hours.  If I take 500 calories it should raise my sugar level by 330 in two hours.

1 Unit of humiinsulin will counter 35 sugar level    or    60 calories.

Are the above facts right?

I have taken the readings for the past two days.  I am not taking Humiinsulin in the morning and taking 20 R 5N in the afternoon and night.

The problem is my sugar levels are very high in the afternoon and doesn't come down quickly even after taking insulin.  How can I modify the insulin dose and do I need to reduce my calories.  I am 59 years old.

I am in the US and dont know what much of the food you mention is.
however by your BG readings I bet they are carbohydrates.

1:20 am Two biscuits + two marie biscuit + ssugar
1:30 am Sugar 80
2:30 am Sugar 201

so you eat carbs + carbs +carbs and you sugar went up 1 hour later (that is what carbs do)

low GI or not your eating to many carbs or taking to little insulin.

eating low GI (Glycemic Index)  is NOT eating low carb

carbs raise BG        ALL carbs raise BG

how much and how fast the BG rise is depends on;
the GI of the food
how much you eat
AND how YOU react to carbs

I reread your post and missed the May 18 lunch and the postprandial reading of 433. The apple may be the cause for this high reading. There are t2 diabetics who cannot eat fruits as fructose [fruit sugar] is absorbed into the bloodstream like refined sugar.

Do you drink your coffee black without milk/cream?

There are no doctors on this forum. You should discuss your elevated glucose and insulin dose with your Endocrinologist. Onions, carrots, white flour biscuits, and yogurt elevates my glucose levels.
