When you visit your Dr. to discuss the pain in your feet and legs, it might be useful to do a Vitamin B12 serum absorption test.  Your symptoms are the same as mine.
If your vitamin b12 level is low, then you may have developed or are developing an anemia.  How well do you walk now?  Can you climb stairs?  Are you using Meformin or Gloucophage as a medication?

No, pain in feet & legs are not normal. You may have circulation and/or nerve problems. In diabetics, this is serious. Please see your doctor ASAP.
