I need an answer!

Ok, i am only 20 years old and i have been having some a lot of trouble for the past 6 months:
1. Extreme bloating
2. Weight loss over a year: 25lbs
3. diaherria for six months, sometimes i get constipated too
4. gas all the time, sometimes it feels like i can't burp
5. fatigue
6. get tired going up stairs
7. i get muscle and joint pain
--- this gets worse with exercise
8. occasionally at night i feel like i am burning up, like im running a fever
9. i get random lightheaded spells that last a few seconds
10. heartburn with the gas, gets worse after meals
11. headaches
12. loss of appetite

If anyone has any ideas of what kind of pathology this could be please let me know.
Tests i've had done all neg: blood tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy, barium upper GI xray, CT scan, stool analysis (1 day).

THey have found nothing, and i could really use an answer, so i can start feeling better, and start exercising again.

I'd really like some answers, so if you have any ideas of what this might be please let me know. Thanks.

I had lower and upper right abdominal pain for over 2 years, accompanied by constipation, excessive bloating, gas, worsened by exercise. Undiagnosed after several doctors and tests. I figured out on my own that the major problem was eating beef...so I stay away from it. It has made a big difference and my quality of life is much better now. If you eat beef you may want to try giving it up and see what happens. Good luck!

Sometimes biopsies don't show Celiac Disease, but a person can still have it. There's a person at a peripheral neuropathy forum, "JCC" who knows a lot about Celiac Disease (& related gluten sensitivities). See http://www.braintalk.org

Also, there's a great lab called EnteroLab, run as a non-profit lab by Dr. Kenneth Fine, M.D., who knows firsthand about Celiac disease! Dr. Fine has found that stool tests are often more reliable than blood tests & even more reliable than intestinal biopsies, to show food sensitivities! You could send a stool sample to his lab, and find out which foods you are allergic to, sensitive to, intolerant of, etc.

Dr. Fine is an expert about helping people to find out accurately, what foods are problem-foods for them.

You can find out if you're sensitive to milk, gluten, & other foods.

Here's a link: http://www.finerhealth.com

Hope this helps.

Yes i believe so. they did an intial stool analysis only one day and nothing came up. But my doc wants to do a three day. So i don't know if that will show anything. Do you know if they test for it through a stool, wouldn't they have found it on the first set of tests. I had a ct scan and nothing came up, a colon and endoscopy and blood tests and everything is normal. I just don't know what to think.

thanks though,

I know thats not celiac, because thats what my doctor thought it was. He took biopsies of both my small intestine and colon, and celiac was neg, as well as any from of collitis. I don't know if its a possible to still have a a food sensitivity, but its something to think about.

I don't believe that i am lactose intollerant, but it is something to look further into.

I have not been diagnosed with anything at this time. Not GERD, or anyother disorder. I don't know if my doctor has ruled out GERD, but i believe he has with the various tests he has already preformed. I am beginning to wonder if IBS is a possiblity... or motility disorder.

Thanks, for the help though, i really appreciate it, and any other thoughts are greatly welcomed. I just would like some answers at this point. Thanks.

There are many possible causes of your symptoms!

I don't know what you have, and I'm not a doctor, but here are some ideas for you to think about:

1)Might you have food sensitivities or food allergies?

a) This can include CELIAC DISEASE (a gluten sensitivity). Gluten is found in wheat, rye, oats, barley, & buckwheat.

Do you eat any of these glutenous grains? (like pizza--the crust, breads, crackers, many cereals, wheat pastas, etc.)

Have you tried going on a gluten-free diet for a month, yet? Brown rice is gluten-free, and is very nutritious.

b) This can include a MILK SUGAR (LACTOSE) INTOLERANCE. Are you a milk drinker? (or cheese, like pizza--, or yogurt, or other milk products)

2) Have you gone for a second or third medical opinion, yet, like from better expert docs?

3) Have you been diagnosed with GERD? (Gastro-esophageal reflux disease). If yes, are you taking ACID BLOCKING MEDICATIONS? These medications can have bad side effects, including what you've described, and more.

If you may have GERD, please look at some GASTRIC REFLUX TIPS, on page 10 of my website, (see link below).

I wish you the best, and hope you find out all of what's going on, so you can fix whatever it is, soon!

Sincerely,
Concerned lady
