low potassium level

My 2yo corgi was given the large amounts of IV fluid when I brought him with severe stomach pain to the hospital. Next day my dog drank much larger than normal amounts of water and produce large amounts of dilute urine. He became weaker and weaker, the doctors did a lot of tests until they realized two days after when my dog almost died that  his blood potassium level is really low.  After adding potassium to fluid injections and to his food my dog recovered very quickly.
Could you please advise if  low potassium level was caused by IV fluid injections without adding electrolytes

It's possible.
But the low Potassium levels could also have been affected by the huge quantity of water he drank at once.
It is very difficult to be 100% clear about the cause. I am glad he is doing better though, now it has been remedied.
