A Pig of a Dog!

We have a 9 month old pittie/shepard mix. However, he can't take five steps without burping. I grew up with German Shepards and NEVER saw this much gas coming out of a dog's mouth! He doesn't fart so much, but the belching is RIDICULOUS! We have to laugh at it, because even his lips flap open as if he was a cartoon animal, but could it be something more?

You know it might be better to feed him in smaller portions say half in the morning and half meal at night.I bet he is gulping it down as well which causes intake of air.
He is only a puppy still so two meals would be better, but just do it all the time. Its a long time to go without feed ,I have always fed my dogs twice a day and add vegies for bulk plus grated apple and carrot.
Sometimes I buy some big shin bones for them to chew on they love that.

He is on purina puppy chow. We've tried "better" foods and he usually ends up with the severe runs for 2-3 days. He eats at night and it's usually about 3-4 cups of food. (BIG appetite!!) He doesn't eat after excercising either. I know better than that...we had a BEAUTIFUL german shepard whose stomach flipped (made it through surgery though!!)...Even though his hyperness doesn't help!! (Silly dog!)

Thanks!!

Gosh! Yes it's funny.....but it could mean there is something wrong.
My first guess is his food may not be suiting him. What does he normally get to eat in a day and when is he fed, ie first thing a.m./evening/after exercise/before exercise....etc.
