I am unsure about the title of your thread -"ALKP No. 1886"
Could that mean that the vet has discovered her ALKP (Alkaline Phosphatase) levels are increased?
In general if using Kibble a "Grain Free" and with "Limited Additives" is best. Most canned foods are not stuffed full of grains... rather they are mostly water.
A moderate cost quality Kibble and Canned food is the Tractor Supply brand 4-Health, I feed both the Kibble and canned for to our dog that is very sensitive and has what appears to be an allergic reaction to some foods. This causes him to loose hair and other problems. He is a Westie, a breed know for the problems he suffers from.
Wishing you the best with you older dog, 11 year old is getting into the troublesome senior years for most large dogs.
As far as pet foods go its best to avoid those with corn. Foods themselves will not cause a UTI or bladder infection. But foods with fillers, such as corn, are not really good for animals. If you buy a more expensive food with less fillers and by-products you will feed less and there will be less bowel movements as well. I feed my dogs a lamb and rice or fish meal and rice dry food. Better food = better health for our pets
