Dog Diarrhea

My dog (havanese) is one year old ,about 4 months ago he got diarrhea, real bad everywhere, down to watery stool and mucus some blood, I tried changing food but in the end after 10 days took him to the Vet and he was treated with a drip (+ buscopan)+ fasting, treatment didnt work.

Many vet visits + drips.    He then went on a general anti biotic (10 days) and got well, sick again 3 days after stopping the antibiotic.

So he was put back on it for ten days while awaiting a 'culture'.  He had high Ecoli, so the right antobiotic led to a total cure/well so I thought.
6 weeks later it started again, I demanded another 'culture' which came back normal.  He had a drip and fasting, small meals, slowly he came round.  The last few days he has it again.  Through all this he is in very good form + lively.

Through all this he is on a very expensive food, recommended by the vet with high meat content. Also he has been given probiotic paste, many tubes, now he takes 'soil biotics' with every meal.  Help!! Will he ever be normal.  I have spent a fortune and feel I am getting nowhere, just now he did it everywhere

Thank you.  They have done the blood work all is fine. There has been a lot od treatment that I couldnt fit into the mail, we are the vets best customer!  I am going to try the fasting followed by the rice with butter for a couple of days. Then I will go back to the vet and mention colitis.  Maybe they can do a colonoscopy if this keeps up.  He is so lovely otherwise and a very much loved dog.

Have they done blood work on your dog?  Have them check the kidney and liver functions because mucusy diahrea can be a forerunner to kidney disease.  Also, is it possible he has colotis?  When my dog would get runny poop with blood, it used to be treated with an antibotic and something for colotis.  I am not sure, but could dogs also get Crohns disease???  Just a few suggestions.
