GiGi is doing well now. Like a new dog. Liked your idea of using the wet wash on bottom to clean and massage. So an extra bath or two has been added to her schedule. Since she will not let a person purposely touch her bottom we found the general bath much more tolerable for her. So thank you Margo49.
GeGE was checked for infection. She has gone for gland expression and had little fluid last time. Thank you for your ideas. We will keep a check on her regsrding a potential abscess. So far so good. Thanks for your info. You must know how helpless we feel. Will try another Vet if necessary.
She just gets wild when we attempt to clean the area. That is why we resorted to the oatmea. spray.
I am sorry you and GeGe are going through this. I read your past posts and it is obvious this is a chronic problem. Has the Vet recommended regular anal gland expression? Has he/she showed you how to do that yourself? Has the Vet suggested regular anal massage with a damp cloth? Has the Vet suggested a diet higher in fiber? Has the dog had an actual abscess? Is she on antibiotics? If not, I'm surprised. Has the Vet suggested surgery to remove the anal glands? I had a Sheltie years ago that had anal gland problems and eventually had an abscess. I opted for surgery to remove the anal glands and she and I were both happier after that. You may want to consider this.
