Dog sprayed by skunk ( HELP)

my german shepard got spray last night by a skunk. I gave him a bath and now he has a large red swollen (size of a large marble) red bump next to his eye and hes having a hard time seeing. You can see where his hair was attached the pores a that open.
what can i do to help him

The sprayed skunk oil can cause severe irritation of the eyes, nose & mouth.  If the eye is severely irritated and not treated, it can ulcerate.  I would get your dog to the vet for a checkup.

My grnadmothers dog had the same thing happen to him over the summer ! He was in pain & didnt really like the smell of him self we gave him a bath in tomato soup but it didnt help to much with the smell but it did make him feel soo much better i dont no about this eye but i think giving him a few baths like that will make him feel better but if it was me i would have his eye looked at ! good luck :)

I think I'm right in saying skunk spray is smelly rather than toxic. I don't think this is caused by the spray.

To remove nasty smells try some baking soda in the water.

I found the post above by typing "skunk" into the "search this forum" button right next to the box with your question in it.

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to bathe your dog?  The only thing I have found to eliminate the odor is a quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and one teaspoon dish soap.  You just sponge it in, let it sit a few minutes, and rinse thoroughly.  It's really amazing.
