Is it time to put our precious pug to sleep?

"Our 14 yo pug has arthritis, is incontinent and has just developed a barking, choking cough. He currently takes Metacam and Tramadol daily for the arthritis and for pain. He is still happy to see us, eats his food and tries to follow us around. The cough is horrific though and we are wondering if it is time to end his life humanely. How do I know?"

So sorry to hear your pug is not doing well but, at 14, he has obviously lived a good life.  These decisions are never easy and you know your dog best.  It does not sound like he has much quality of life left.  The cough is probably from heart and/or lung problems.  If his days are miserable and he is suffering, it may be time to give him a peaceful passing.  It is often the last act of love we can do for them.  Hugs
