Well, what Karla mentioned is certainly true.
A year or more ago my normally energetic happy dog suddenly didn't want to play, didn't want to go out, didn't want to move around! I was quite concerned, and was about to take her to the vet for tests. I eventually found the tiniest thinnest little thorn embedded in her foot pad! It was actually impossible to see but could just about be felt when I ran my fingertip over her pad. It hadn't even made her limp -just made her appear unusually lethargic.
It took me nearly an hour to get that out! As SOON as it came out out she sprang up again, ran around the garden, and was happy to go for a three mile walk! I looked at that thorn, about the thickness of a hair, and about 1/8 of an inch long (less actually) -and was amazed that such a tiny thing could have floored her for a couple of days!
Hello & welcome....What kind of dog is this? Could he have an injury that your unaware of? Maybe during all his crazy running? The SITTING you mention, may be the clue here....How long has it been going on? What does his posture look like when he walks?
Is there any vomiting or diarrhea? Is he drinking normal or excessive?
More information would be helpful, if possible.......Karla
OK it sounds as if something is wrong here. A 4 year old shouldn't be behaving like a very old dog. It might be hot weather where you are, and that could make some difference to his energy levels, but from what I know about healthy young dogs, it shouldn't make an awful lot of difference to his energy and playfulness.
It's good that he's eating, and appears to have normal bowel movements?. But everything else is not good. And he sounds pretty miserable.
As soon as you can take him to the vet to be checked. Take a urine sample with you. A lot can be told about a dog's health from a urinalysis. Otherwise, the vet will most likely take a blood sample, and generally examine him.
I hope he's back to his old self soon.
